Made in Central Asia – East Turkistan, in the vicinity of the city by the name of Samarkand, and marketed in that city. These rugs generally show Chinese influence, and the field is usually covered with intricate Chinese motifs. Designs in the field are round medallions or polygons. Other Chinese motifs such as dragons, Chinese cloud banks, flowers, and birds are used. The unique designs, colors, and the fine silky wool quality of these rugs are what truly make them special.

The Moroccan rugs have become “the rug of choice” for many interior designers as well as private consumers. They don’t have a long history but are most notable for their dynamic colorful modernist designs as well as for their strong sense of geometric structure (and abstract designs). None so far have been dated to before the mid nineteenth century, when their production began as an adaptation of central and western Turkish rugs, whose repertoire was followed closely by the weavers in Morocco. The rugs from Morocco are, nevertheless, distinctive in their coloration and in the more block-like geometry of their composition.

This nice Choubi rug has a traditional Turkish Oushak design, with a brown background, ivory border, and floral design! Hand-woven in Pakistan.
Chobi rugs are traditionally produced in many regions of Pakistan. The word “chobi” is from the Farsi word “chob” which means wood, referring to the source of its natural dyes. Our Chobis tend to have large geometric floral patterns. They are all hand-knotted with hand-spun wool spun primarily by a drop spindle. Their natural dyes are made entirely from hand-gathered fruits, vegetables, roots, tree barks and dried shells, making Chobis the most labor-intensive of all of our tribal carpets.
Natural Dye Chobis are renowned for their lanolin-rich luster and stunning natural coloring. Their colors range from soft muted tans and browns to rich coppers, deep maroons, and sage greens. Our natural dyeing techniques have been refined over the years to ensure a natural dye that is steadfast, fade-proof and long-lasting.
In perfect condition! All sides and ends secured and intact. Professionally washed and cleaned.

Black background with an allover floral pattern. High-quality 16/18 weave = 285 kpsi!
This rug was designed by David Grassi for Noo Noo rug, which is no longer in business. They were located in Secaucus, NJ and made very good quality rugs from India and Pakistan. This was made in Pakistan (you can confirm this by feeling the texture. Rub your hand back and forth and if it has a fine almost bristle texture one direction and a very smooth pile the other direction it is Pakistani in this case) and was very popular throughout the early to mid 1990’s.
