Tekke rugs were formerly made in Russia€™s Turkestan, in the Merv district, which is one of the most fertile anywhere, and in the Ahal Tekke tribe area. Today, this area is known as Turkmenistan. The name Tekke comes from the Tekke tribes. As a class, Tekke or Royal Bokhara rugs are one of the finest of all rugs ever woven. Their nap is short and the design is distinct. The design is invariably geometric with three rows of octagons. There are many shades of Turkoman reds, mahogany, or even a plum cast.
Fair condition! No stains, no odor. Sides and ends original. Low pile with worn sides and ends. As shown in pictures.

Made in Central Asia, in the vicinity of the city by the name of Samarkand, and marketed in that city. These rugs generally show Chinese influence, and the field is usually covered with intricate Chinese motifs. Designs in the field are round medallions or polygons. Other Chinese motifs such as dragons, Chinese cloud banks, flowers, and birds are used. The unique designs, colors, and the fine silky wool quality of these rugs are what truly make them special.
Good condition! No stains, no odor. Sides and ends original. Contains low pile – as shown in pictures.
